Did you know that when children with hearing loss are given access to the right technology and specialized intervention during the first three years of life, they can develop listening and spoken communication skills on par with their typically hearing peers?
This critical window represents a period of rapid brain development. Unfortunately, if that window closes without proper support, irreversible delays can occur.
Sound Start Babies was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1996, driven by the belief that all children deserve a sound start, and a commitment to providing the quality and quantity of intervention proven to make a difference.
A pioneering organization in New Jersey, Sound Start Babies now serves families in all 21 counties through in-person services, teleintervention, and our award-winning nursery program. We offer various programs throughout the year, including a virtual family music class, alumni engagement opportunities, and a parent sign class. In addition, we host a monthly Toddler Story Time at the local library and present often to community organizations.

What We Do
Home & Community
We provide specialized services for your child and family in your home, daycare or in other community settings, or virtually via teleintervention.
Nursery Classrooms
The only program of its kind in New Jersey, the Sound Start Babies Nursery provides an opportunity for toddlers with and without hearing loss to learn together in either Listening and Spoken Language or Total Communication classrooms.
Additional Services
Sound Start Babies Program offers research supported services, incorporating new technologies and strategies designed to provide continuity of care both during and beyond your early intervention journey.
Who We Are
The Sound Start Babies team is a group of parent infant specialists from a range of disciplines each of whom has specialized training and experience in working with very young children with hearing loss.
