We are thrilled to announce Dr. Yana Garger has joined the Sound Start Foundation Board of Trustees.
Dr. Garger is board-certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, and Internal Medicine. She received her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Brandeis University and her medical degree from New York Medical College. Along with her extensive medical knowledge, Yana brings first-hand knowledge of the impact of the Sound Start Babies program as her son went through the program.
“I joined the Sound Start Foundation for two reasons – I have always been grateful for the work the Foundation does for our children. I witnessed how beneficial early childhood work is to the long-term speech, social interaction and integration of deaf or hard-of-hearing children. I saw first-hand how dedicated the teachers, aids, audiologists, therapists, and all the staff are at every interaction. I know that everyone is working tirelessly to help the students. Then, when I saw how passionate and dedicated the board members are, I realized that adding my efforts to the group will be time and energy well-spent.”
The mission of Sound Start Foundation is to support educational and therapeutic programs to help babies and toddlers with hearing loss, and their families, lead full and successful lives. We are excited to welcome Yana who will help us accomplish our goal. Yana says, “I hope people get to know the students, how much they benefit from early intervention, how happy they are, and how they grow into successful individuals, future leaders of the world, thanks to the skills they develop through their early interventions.”
